Angular magnification for simple microscope is given by -

where D is the least distance of distinct vision.

From lens equation,

1D1u=1f\dfrac{1}{-D}-\dfrac{1}{-u}=\dfrac{1}{f}

Hence, M=Du=1+DfM=\dfrac{D}{u}=1+\dfrac{D}{f}

Therefore depends only on ff.
