(a) The speaker had these dreams as there were racial discrimination and social injustice prevailing in America at that time. The black people were living in extreme poverty despite America being a rich country. So, he wanted to remove social and political deprivations of the black people and establish their civil rights and liberties like the white people.

(b) Before achieving their freedom, the Black were oppressed and faced racial discrimination and social injustice everywhere in the society. They were deprived of their civil rights and freedom. Despite living in a rich country, they were isolated from prosperity and living in extreme poverty.

(c) The speaker dreams for his four children that they will one day live in a nation where they will not/be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.

(d) The state of Mississippi, infused with injustice and oppression, would turn into a place of freedom and justice one day.

(e) When freedom would ring from everywhere - every village, hamlet, state and city, all of God's/children would sing in the words of the old Negro Spiritual.
