Two resistance are connected in series as shown in diagram. What is the value of RR?

Voltage across 5Ω5\Omega resistor is V=10VV=10V

Current, I=VR=105I=\dfrac{V}{R}=\dfrac{10}{5}

    I=2A\implies I=2A

Since resistance 5Ω5\Omega and RR are in series and hence current through both resistance is same.

Hence current through RR is also 2A2A.

Now for RR, potential difference is V=6VV=6V and I=2AI=2A.

Hence , R=VI=62R=\dfrac{V}{I}=\dfrac{6}{2}

    R=3Ω\implies R=3\Omega
