SB 19

Indiscriminate Cutting of Trees

Indiscriminate cutting of trees is generally known as deforestation. There are many causes of deforestation, such as, using trees for fuel; making more land available for housing and urbanization; harvesting timber to create commercial items such as paper, furniture and homes; creating ingrediants that are highly prized consumer items, such as the oil from palm trees; and creating room for cattle ranching, etc. Cutting down trees is necessary to produce wood for construction, paper and other applications, but cutting down trees indiscriminately can potentially lead to negative impacts on the environment as a whole. First of all, men, birds and animals - all are facing various natural. adversities such as greenhouse effect, drought, flood etc. That is why, disruption in eco-system has become a usual phenomenon. Secondly, deforestation causes the birds and other animals living on trees to leave their nesting places. It also causes serious damage to the soil. Besides, the soil gets sediment in the river bed and causes frequent floods. For want of trees the event of little rain or rainlessness also occurs, and the drought appears with the red signal of famine. Moreover, deforestation causes the rise of carbon-di-oxide in the sphere, and hence greenhouse effect shows its dire consequences arising the question of manifold natural disasters.
