Adolescence is a stage of development, and a period of transition between childhood and adulthood. During this period, adolescents are influenced by different cultural norms stemming from different attitudes toward values and norms in society. The norms may have an effect on the adolescents' development in terms of individual identity and social behaviour. Culture has a strong influence on development, behaviour, values and beliefs of adolescents. Family rituals and good communication have a positive effect on teens. Parents, instilling positive cultural values and beliefs in their children, help raise their self-esteem and academic success.
