The linear magnification for a mirror is the ratio of the size of the image to the size of the object, and is denoted by mm. Then we may write: (symbols have their usual meanings)

হানি নাটস

Mirror equation: 1f=1v+1u\dfrac{1}{f}=\dfrac{1}{v}+\dfrac{1}{u}

Multiplying both sides by uu, we get:

uf=uv+uu\dfrac{u}{f}=\dfrac{u}{v}+\dfrac{u}{u}

or, uv=uf1=uff\dfrac{u}{v}=\dfrac{u}{f}-1=\dfrac{u-f}{f}

or, vu=fuf\dfrac{v}{u}=\dfrac{f}{u-f}

or, m=fufm=\dfrac{f}{u-f}

or, mu=f+mfmu=f+mf

or, f=mu1+mf=\dfrac{mu}{1+m}
